A statement from Arthur D. Little regarding the passing of Jesús Portal

Madrid, February 17, 2023

With great sadness, we must announce the passing of our beloved friend and colleague, Jesús Portal, at the age of 64. Jesús was a highly regarded Partner in our Madrid office for over 20 years, a valued member of a few of our key global practices (TIME & TIM), and our Global Partnership.

He was a true entrepreneur, a true embodiment of the ADL spirit, and an exceptional person.

Jesús Portal (1958 – 2023)

Having joined Arthur D. Little in 2000, Jesús was a highly esteemed Partner, a visionary leader, and a true expert in his field. He was the Managing Partner of our Madrid office from 2007 to 2010 and played a pivotal role in driving the office’s breakthrough growth in recent years.

Jesús was deeply committed to Arthur D. Little and actively supported the firm's transition to a private partnership. He was a respected member of the Partnership Committee and believed in the partnership model wholeheartedly.

Throughout his career, he worked with clients across various industries, including fixed-line and mobile operators, ISPs, Power line communications operators, and more. He provided transaction advisory services to lenders and acquirers and was highly sought after.

Clients appreciated Jesús’ expertise in business strategy and corporate finance, and he was known for his ability to lead complex operational change and help clients transform their businesses.

Jesús’ contributions to Arthur D. Little and particularly to the Madrid office were truly immense.  Over the last 20 years, he has been actively involved in hiring, developing, and professionally coaching hundreds of ADL consultants and colleagues, including ADL  Alumni. His impact on their personal and professional lives will not be forgotten.

Jesús was a talented and experienced professional, with a wealth of knowledge, and a true asset to the Arthur D. Little team. He was an exceptional friend and mentor to many, known for his great sense of humor and his caring and supporting nature. Above all, he was a devoted family man.

In this time of mourning, we extend our deepest sympathy to Jesús' family, colleagues, and friends.

Rest in peace, Jesús – it was our privilege to have you as part of our team, to learn from you, and to be your friend.
