The future of biomethane
The future of biomethane
Pressure to decarbonize, green development, and geopolitical strife are straining Europe’s natural gas industry. Biomethane, a sustainable substitute to natural gas, is key to the EU’s strategy to reduce CO2 emissions and ensure supply will meet demand. Emerging regulations and new technologies have created a framework for future growth. In this Viewpoint, we explain the opportunities and obstacles for new and existing renewable energy business players.
Real estate clean energy strategy
Real estate clean energy strategy
The construction and building sector is an important piece of the decarbonization puzzle as it significantly contributes to global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Pressed by increasingly demanding stakeholders, real estate companies are adopting ambitious midterm decarbonization targets. In designing such strategies, these companies should adopt a holistic approach, leading to a decrease of GHG emissions while defending their bottom lines and maintaining or even improving the quality of the service they provide to their customers. Transforming a utility company’s front line
A framework to optimize field force utilization and productivity
Digital future of electrical networks
Digital transformation is one of the most important changes the utilities industry faces these days. This transformation is not limited to changing how companies interact with their clients, but also impacts the way they operate internally, as well as where and how value is created. In order to prepare for this landslide transformation, electricity companies must adapt their practices to facilitate such a change.
Reforming the energy subsidy systems in the Middle East
Half of the world’s total energy subsidies bill of USD 480 bn comes from the Middle East, eating up more than one-quarter of governments’ revenues. Energy-intensive industries and households make the region require more fuel to produce a unit of GDP than any other region.
Third Party Access in Gas Transportation
Introduction of TPA regulation is one of the most important levers for driving liberalization in the gas markets of the emerging economies. The objective is to foster competition in the gas market, improve supply efficiency, and bolster infrastructural investments, thereby strengthening the energy security.
